After successfully creating a traditional project with a couple of fields (only 3 are required), so that selected members can input their observations, I am running into another issue. When uploading a personal observation, there is this handy input where you select photos, combine them, have iNat to suggest an ID, extracts the date from the photos, select the location on a map, edit some basic fields, and you are done.
Now when one clicks [Add Observation] to the project, there is a different input like the screenshot below and there is no AI ID suggestion, dates are not entered automatically, and is a bit discouraging for the novice citizen scientist.
Is there a way to have a similar easy semi-automatic input form with AI ID suggestions when inputting an obs. in the traditional project ??? AS you see, the form says what do you see and since this project is about fungi, it will going to upset the members as they feel hopeless.
Thanks for helping in advance!
If you create an observation the normal way and scroll down a bit, below the annotations section there is a field called “Projects”. You can type in the name of your project to add your observation to that project.
Note: only projects a user has joined will appear as options in that field. That shouldn’t be a problem for you, but if you are trying to get other users to add their own observations to your project make sure they join your project first (or just add the observations yourself).
You can also batch add observations to your project so you don’t have to do that one observation at a time. https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/adding-observations-to-a-traditional-project-wiki/13190
Yes I know about this method, but I hoped and suggested to iNat team that adding an observation to a traditional project should also incorporate and autodetect species. Only the add images section needs to be changed and have the same layout as the upload. That would really be an asset!
