Screenshots of what you are seeing: The YouTube video shows what I am talking about: https://youtu.be/DAnj6WiqpPg
Description of problem: Sometimes, whenever I zoom in on a picture, the cursor gets “stuck” as the magnifying glass. No matter what I click on the site, nothing responds, and a reload of the site is required. It doesn’t happen every time. I found it mostly occurs on the identify page, but it has occurred a couple of times on the observation page. Not sure what is causing it to happen.
Small update: it seems it can happen without the zoom button being hit. It happened when I was not zooming in but was instead clicking on and off observations (in identify)
I only run 2 extensions on iNat, those being Grammarly and uBlock Origin. They are active on every site I go to, and I have not had any issues with them. Though I did do what you asked and turned them off temporarily and have had my issue occur with them off.
As for using a different browser, I can try that, though based on what @NuthatchFanatic said earlier, it may not occur on Chrome/other browsers
It happened several times to me too on observation pages after clicking fast to zoom in and browse the photos. The photo got stuck while zoomed in and nothing on the page responded, had to reload. Not a big deal though. Website on Windows 11 with Chrome with just one extension. It happens rarely and randomly, i can’t replicate consistently.
The most consistent way to replicate it is to click several times on the photo to zoom-in then click outside the photo then click again several times to zoom-in an so on until it gets stuck. Then nothing responds to mouse or keyboard. Here’s a video capture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_kuIT2M52c
I am also on Windows 11 (which I failed to mention earlier).
I was able to replicate it the same way you did. I have noticed that clicking quickly was usually the culprit, though I think it may not have been the case once or twice (though I could be misremembering).
I always use the iNat website on an iPad. This sometimes happens to me, but I’ve always assumed it is a problem with my device, because I can fix it by closing my iPad and then reopening it, and it is always still on the same page and un-stuck.
If it happens repeatedly I decide that I’d better stop identifying for a while (sigh…)
