New Jersey Tea is the most amazing flower I have ever smelt … I made tea and ate it in everything I cooked while camping there , while digging for Crystals at Crystal Vista ( the only free dig sight in the world as far as I know). So many flowers were just starting to bloom as I was leaving, it was hard to leave .

Just a note, the photo is of a plum (Prunus sp.) flower. I’m guessing that was what you ate? They are edible, thankfully.
New Jersey Tea is Ceanothus americanus, and flowers in late April to early June in your area. It is a short shrub with dense clusters of small white flowers and blooms after leafing out.

Welcome! That is a very pretty plant! I don’t know if I’ve seen one…I live in Arkansas too!
