I think he was reffering to the Bird Of Da Week.

Ohh! That was something that exists! I’m for it!

Idk if I can do that. Bugs and stuff are SOOO much easier to photograph and Id, especially for beginners.

Guys, Christmas is galloping towards us like a discombobulated reindeer at top speed, and I’ve got a chance at getting a decent long-range bird photography camera. So the question is: Should I ask for a camera or phone lens? This is more about quality over cost (but it is mostly about cost) so which option would b better?

Camera! Pricey, yes, especially since you have to get a decent lens with it, but I promise you, you’ll never look back! And always remember, lens matters more than camera. You can pair a bad lens with a good camera, and the photos won’t look great. But pair a good lens with a bad camera, and the photos will (usually) look great!

Definitely purchase based on quality, go for the camera, upgrade the lens later. though I don’t quite know what you mean by a phone lens, would it be adjacent to digiscoping?

I think Austin means a clip-on macro lens or something for an iPhone

I want to buy a new camera for bird photography and I want to ask you guys: what camera and lens are you using and you recommend?

I hope I can find something ‘till 2026 that is not very pricey… but please tell me!

What is your budget exactly?

I don’t have an exact budget but if I find some suggestions then I’ll see  I want some proper distance lens among with a good camera.

Budget will decide a lot of this. Like, to start off, would it likely be more/less than $500?

im using a nikon d3500 with the nikkor 70-300mm and it takes care of everything i need, though af leaves lots to desire. However for my first camera, the whole thing was pretty cheap at like $300 USD so I do recommend nikon dslr’s for the price

Yeah definitely a camera then, its just not even close in terms of image quality or range once you get a decent lens

I use the Sigma 150-660mm (contemporary). For a 600mm lens, it is around the $1000 mark, but I find that any other lens around 600mm is way more pricey, and you get quite a bit of range with the zoom. For instance, I can take Bird, Landscape, and FROG photos with the same lens.

I suggest the Sony Alpha A9 III for a budget pick. :face_with_tongue:

IDK, 700$ maybe? But maybe some more if I find anything good.

You can normally get the 150-600 used for about 800 (which is what I did)
