Definitely! As cameras advance, they are capable of getting usable images from higher and higher ISO. Some can even get great images at 12,000+, although they still require a good bit of denoising in post.
Bird migration dashboard starts back up in a few days!! Spring is slowly coming (in the northern hemisphere)! https://birdcast.org/migration-tools/migration-forecast-maps/
sigh
I think I’d be more excited about Spring if we’d actually have some Winter first. Northern and Central Colorado have the lowest snowpack since records started to be kept. Denver has had exactly one significant snowfall since October. It’s been warm enough that we’ve got flowers blooming a month early, and that’s going to be bad for the hummingbird species that breed in the high country.
Unless we get some serious late moisture, Summer is going to be kind of terrifying.
I think we’ve had all your precipitation here in Europe. Where I live in England it’s been unseasonably gloomy, even for us. One town had rain for fifty consecutive days. To get a bit of sunshine I booked a trip to Spain for a few days and, guess what, it’s raining!
The colors are gorgeous omg!! Mergansers are pretty elusive in my area so it’s really nice to see them!
Either that, or the East Coast of the US. The massive snowstorm that hit them last weekend caused power outages to well over half a million people and now has its own Wikipedia article.
Ugh, that sucks. We had 50s-60s on Christmas, but then temps dropped like a rock, and we got snow.
This is a cool photo I took the other day in a park!
I feel bad for you! The last few winters were warm and not super snowy for me, but this winter we have had snow on the ground almost continuous since mid-late November. With warmer temperatures coming and here that will end. I have loved it since it has been a long time since we had a good solid winter.
And down here, we’re coming into Autumn! I’m really sad though because I enjoy summer more. Compared to last Summer, this has been a pleasant summer. Last year we had 40+ degree days everyday for weeks, and so this summer has been cold in comparison!
The birds have started switching to their spring songs. All year round resident birds so far but the change in the soundscape is remarkable.
Incredible, I love the first one.
His head looks very beautiful in that lighting!
That’s been my favorite part of March so far. It felt like all of the resident and wintering birds decided to start singing overnight!
Exactly!
