Boundaries with too many observations and the City Nature Challenge

Hi! I’m trying to add a new Place, but the warning I’m getting from iNaturalist is that “Place geometry contains too many observations to import”. It’s Mono and Inyo County, California. I got permission from the City Nature Challenge organizers to make that our project boundary, though the two cities for the project will be Bishop and Mammoth Lakes, California. I don’t know if there is a way to force the boundary for Mono and Inyo County, or even though I got permission from the event organizers, I should make it the boundaries of the cities, or perhaps the census tracts of and between the two cities, both KMLs I can make or have. If I’m allowed to have the boundary for those two counties as one, I planned on just calling it Inyo and Mono Counties.

I guess I could just add both counties separately inside the Project… but I do like just having a single polygon.

why is that better?

There isn’t a way around this restriction, sorry.

It makes most sense to add each county to the project separately.
