CNC - what's out in front

Holy moly. What is in the water in La Paz? Is the entire city participating?

And I think it’s interesting that garlic mustard is the second most observed species. I think it’s the first time a new species has been in the top three which is usually honeybee, mallard and dandelion.

Quite interesting every species you mentioned is nonnative in South America.

They have a very organized effort: https://newsroom.wcs.org/News-Releases/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/17515/La-Paz-Bolivia-Breaks-Records-in-City-Nature-Challenge-2022.aspx

I think the list was the world-wide list, not for La Paz. Their top 3 are currently:

Viguiera pazensis
Agave americana
Opuntia ficus-indica

(Number 4 is domestic horse, 5 is dandelion)

See this related thread for various thoughts on La Paz:

Looks like Dandelions and Mallards overtook Garlic Mustard.

Garlic mustard is so invasive in the US though I’m not at all surprised that its high.
