Common names for a paraphyletic grouping

Hello,

I have been adding common names to taxon in the local lexicon and have come across a challenge.
Many vernacular names represent a grouping of taxon that are paraphyletic in nature.
For example, all black species in the Genus Xylocopa (large carpenter bees) have a single common name “भँवरा”. There are many other examples in the Arthropoda phylum and Plant kingdom where a few species across different families are represented by a single common name (example).

What is the best way to deal with such cases?

I would just add that name to the genus. You could also use “[name] and allies” instead. If unrelated genera (or higher ranks) have the same common name, I usually add it to both. But I wouldn’t do this for species because you could have dozens of species with the same common name, and that doesn’t help the confusion.
