Apparently in 2016 the IUCN reevaluated the lesser electric ray (Narcine bancroftii) from Critically Endangered to Least Concern after a discrepancy was found in the original study’s sample size. It seems that iNaturalist’s listing of its status as Critically Endangered is out-of-date.
The thought of it just came to me, as I remember uploading my observation and doing a double-take at its status, considering that while I was on vacation at Cape San Blas I must have gotten shocked by about eight of them.
