Is there an easy way I could figure out the highest single day observation count for the state of Tennessee? Thanks!
Welcome to the forum, @mellok! I do not know the answer to your question, but I know someone else will. @tiwane, @bouteloua might know, along with many other people.
I’m not aware of any easy way to do this, but checing the dates of last year’s City Nature Challenge, April 26-29, would be a good start.
tiwane- that is exactly where I started, thanks! I was just thinking perhaps DLiA or one of the schools might have done a blitz on another date that was larger than CNC 2019 participation. CNC is going to be rough this year so I wanted a different goal for my participants who will be doing backyard / habitat observations to aim for such as 'largest single day of observations in the state."
you can get the results from the API histogram endpoint, and then sort the results. here are the daily counts in Tennessee since 2010: http://api.inaturalist.org/v1/observations/histogram?place_id=45&d1=2010-01-01&date_field=observed&interval=day.
so the top 5 days have been:
2019-04-27: 2533
2019-10-08: 1546
2020-04-02: 1426
2019-05-18: 1424
2018-04-28: 1413
UPDATE:
Thank you so much!
