In the iNat community project “BUG: Gamble Garden”, it shows that I have 25 species identified and 87 observations. However, under the list for species with all members for the same project “BUG:Gamble Garden”, it only shows that I (#10 archana-nature) have only 14 species. Is there a way to fix this # species recorded discrepancy? Note that the number of observations is accurately updated at 87 in both links.
To “dumb this down” and put it in normal English for myself (I’m learning too!), here is what I think pisum is saying:
Your first link goes to the Explore Page. This is a count to tell you how many different taxa you found. It counts every “leaf” on the taxonomic tree, even if that “branch” ends at subgenus, subfamily, etc. That’s how you get to a total of 25 taxa.
It will also “roll it back up” to species if anything goes below species, eg to subspecies.
Your second link goes to the count for the project. It would take too many computational resources for every project to use method #1 for every member of the project, every time you clicked on the leaderboard. To save computational resources, it is only counting things which are actually identified to species. That’s how you get only 14 taxa left, out of your original 25 taxa.

I thought this was the issue at hand but recommended coming here to ask for confirmation.
