I check at least once a week because I’m learning, and though I don’t often have many, the more I venture into IDing less common species, the more mistakes I make at the start
I’m also asking because there’s a prolific IDer who sweeps through RG obs, agreeing to everything, who has more than 2,500 mavericks - surely those aren’t all justified. I asked this person once to check their great tit mavericks, and they cleaned them up - but none of the other species. I guess it’s not a problem as the rest of the community IDs outweigh the maverick?
I check, every day. Since I also follow my notifications, I wonder why or how, some still slip thru.
Mavericks tho is already, too little too late, and identifiers have overthrown your Maverick ID.
It would be better if iNat would let us pick up Pre-Mavericks, where reconsidering our ID could let that third identifier move on to another obs instead.
Thanks – will try yours too. But I am finding ‘add value’ obs among those 68 … https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/21470883
Have added this to the Weird Wild Wonders project – which didn’t exist, or I hadn’t yet found it, then.
Halfway done … and then finally took almost 3 hours.
My notifications no longer show Disagree, so if it’s a taxon I don’t really know, I don’t know if it’s a disagreement or not unless I actually go to the observation, so I think more slip through.
I think that link only shows observations that are not marked as reviewed. At least, that’s what I got when I tried it. I thought it was weird when I got less that 100 disagreements. When I include observations that are marked as reviewed, it’s closer to 12,000.
But slot YOUR name in instead ? Ack 25K. Depending on how you prefer to ID, I work down taxon levels. So I would start with what is trapped at Kingdom, where reconsidering your ID will be the most effective. With the Disagreements filter only 20 obs
But, if you have already reviewed those 12K, you would need a good reason to look at them again.
As a taxon specialist you will have lots of DISagreements, where you know you are correct.
I just checked using your link with my name, and only found one other maverick, which I rectified by withdrawing my erroneous ID.
I do keep up with notifications, so I generally catch things at the pre-maverick stage.
I often don’t check it (obscure urls. iNat needs a bigger menu!!!). I often make ids that are against the community id because I did the digging, but they trust the wrong one
Location is one of the major reasons. They id it as something from another place. Many of the accounts are dormant.
There are some where I am holding my opinion because there is a high possibility that I’m correct.

This made me check them for the first time! Besides one that was only a maverick because of a taxon swap, the rest are all still wrong </3 I might tag someone in them for help fixing the ID if its not fixed
