Finding species observed for the first time

Not sure if this is a silly question or not. Is it possible to search/filter a city’s observations to find out which species were observed on iNat for the first time during the CNC weekend? If so, how?

I don’t think that’s a silly question at all. I actually like the idea of that, though I don’t know how hard that’d be to implement.

maybe by using the compare tool with pre-CNC dates compared to CNC dates, although the 500 limit is going to scuttle that idea now that I think about it. I’ll carry on posting this, in case it triggers other ideas…

Thanks. I thought about something like that, but I’ve never used the compare tool to know what its capabilities are.

Yep, see example compare links here as an starting template (though note that I excluded captive specimens). For example a ruff was first documented on iNat in the Chicago Wilderness region during the 2018 CNC.

The compare tool is not particularly user-friendly. You can use the same search URLs discussed in more detail here to modify the searches.
