Can someone explain why GBIF is no longer linked in the “About” species feature on inaturalist.
I really liked the feature.

That’s a good question. I hadn’t noticed until you pointed it out.
Can you clarify where you are not seeing a link? The More Info section on the right? GBIF is linked on Taxon Pages/About tabs that I look at in the Wikipedia Taxon Identifiers at least (if it is linked on Wikipedia).
GBIF used to be linked on the “More Info” window on the right in the “About” tab, it is no longer there, I can not see it on Wiki either. I found it a handy feature as a lot of Jersey (Channel Island) records are on other recording systems. I can go to the GBIF site, but just seems a time waste. Included a picture showing GBIF has gone from the list:
It looks like someone recently edited the general GBIF-search taxon link under More Info so that it was no longer associated with all taxa, but instead the moth Nemophora associatella alone (and i can’t find any associated flag for an explanation for why this was done; it’s especially odd given that 1. they didn’t change the associated url from its generic template and 2. a comment was left under the link several years ago with a warning not to change it without discussion). i’ve changed it back so that it shows up under all taxa again.
