Geo-trigger for more pics

Plants often need a revisit, for example to catch the flowers or fruit. It would be quite handy if iNaturalist had some way of marking an observation as needing a revisit in a certain date range, with explanation, and when a person is passing very close, it notifies them to take a photo. People could opt out of course, and there might need to be some way to avoid over use though in practice that may not be necessary and would anyway add to the collaborative feel. Any thoughts on this idea?

I think it could get very complicated for this to be a function of iNaturalist, but you made me realize that I can set a reminder like this on my phone. It can include a link to the observation and can be set for a date and time, and can even be triggered by my location. I haven’t tried it, but now I will.

Yes, people will want to choose where to use it or they will be needlessly setting it. It would be extremely useful where I am in Antalya because there are many tourist tracks.

Personally, I have plenty of routes where the likelihood of other users appearing is close to zero.”
