I have noticed that for some taxa, particularly with very wide ranges (i.e. more or less cosmopolitan taxa), the Geomodel map has strange horizontal bars covering various latitudes.
For example, here’s the Tabanus nigrovittatus complex:
and here’s Trifolium pratense:
Does anyone know what’s going on?
Thanks for pointing this out. This was due to some recent changes to underlying mapping libraries. We had a fix for this queued up, which was just released. Are they looking better for you now? It’s possible there’s some caching involved, so it may take up to an hour for already loaded tiles to look OK. Zooming it will load new tiles for new zoom levels. Hopefully those horizontal line artifacts no longer appear
