Last year I sent in two samples of Ramaria to the summer continental MycoBlitz and they came back as Ramaria “sp-MA01”. These observation have a light salmon color and when fresh yellow tips. When I look through local observations, I often find other observations that look similar and would like to group them for comparison and characterization. There may be multiple species or just one. I tagged my own observations with “Light_salmon_Ramaria” and “Yellow tips” and suggested others do the same. Is there a better way to this? Someone suggested creating a group.
i would use an observation field.
here’s an example of an observation that includes such an observation field to help group similar galls:
with the observation field, you’ll be able to find all observation fields with the same value. for example: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?verifiable=any&place_id=any&field:Similar%20observation%20set=dryocosmus_q_phellos
Thank you! Initially, I did not know to search for similar observation set and picked associated observation instead. That would be too complicated and adds preference to a particular observation. Fixed that and added field “Light_salmon_Ramaria” to one of my observations with DNA analysis and the earliest INat observation with the same DNA. I added a comment to that observation about what I did and why and asked for feedback. I think this will work!
