over the last few months I get an increasing amount of emails by iNat staff to donate. Just today I got two emails, one from Carrie Seltzer and one from Scott Loarie asking me to donate to iNat. Do you also get that many emails?
I make this post to vent a little bit, but also because I’m unsure how iNat’s financial situation is. Is iNaturalist financially in a tough position right now?
Hi Letizia, apologies for the extra emails! It’s Giving Tuesday, so we have many more appeals than usual. That said, you should have only been emailed once. I see we’ve got you in the system twice, under two different email addresses. Can you let us know by emailing donations@inaturalist.org which address is preferred?
I love this exchange. How long did it take for iNaturalist to respond, minutes? My family is slower. Kudos for iNat!
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of “Giving Tuesday”!
I just cleared 60 emails (I counted) from different organizations, all asking for money on “Giving Tuesday”.
Including one from iNaturalist!

And yes, my bad. Didn’t realize those emails reached different email addresses. That’s why the frequency has been higher I guess. Thanks again :)
