I subscribe to a few locations and taxa for quick identifications from the home page. One user is spamming a huge number of casual observations (imported from another website) which completely floods my home feed rendering it useless. Is there anyway to avoid this? Muting them doesn’t work as that’s for notifications. When subscribing to a place or taxon there’s no option to filter out casual observations.
I enjoy seeing photos of things I’m subscribed to and not a full wall of default icons from useless observations which go on for pages and pages.
Instead of subscribing to places, I have bookmarked Identify filters. Those are much more customizable, and you could exclude casual observations.
I agree there ought to be a way to filter out casual observations from a feed, but think calling them “useless” goes too far. Casual observations of wild organisms can contain important data, especially when they are from credible users. But I understand why you don’t see much use for them as part of your feed since you can’t ID them or see the organism being reported. And casual observations of non-wild organisms are often of little to no value.
In any event, might be best to submit this as a feature request.
You could just block the user if you still have some blocks left.
