I am a botanist at NatureServe and my primary work is assessing the global conservation status of plant species. I use GeoCAT to calculate values for Range Extent and Area of Occupancy, two pieces of information considered in an assessment. I use a variety of data like herbarium specimens, NatureServe Network Data, and sometimes, iNaturalist observations. My current workflow is to pull occurrences from iNaturalist via GeoCAT. I do not actually save any of the data or use it to build spatial datasets, that is up to individual heritage programs. Currently, I use iNaturalist data at that moment to calculate these values and that is it.
I am wondering how obscured and private coordinates are applied in the GeoCAT application?
