How do I identify an animal noise? I thought this app was supposed to do that
how are you attempting to upload the noise? Are you using the app or the desktop website? What kind of file are you trying to upload? How are you entering an initial ID? Need some more details to be able to effectively help you
you can definitely upload audio recordings to iNaturalist to be identified by other users, but a) they must be sound files only (no videos), and b) if you need an ID, it will have to be provided by another user (unlike for photos, the Computer Vision currently cannot suggest an ID for a sound)
The Merlin app is really good for bird IDs on the fly (pun intended), but on iNat, you do need to rely on others to ID it for you. Perhaps someday there will be an app (or iNat will feature the capability) to ID sounds, but I think that’s a pretty tall order and would take a long time to develop.
