What are the guidelines for “substance” based plants; such as tobacco, hemp, etc.? Once in a blue moon, I will stumble upon a wild hemp plant, growing in the forest. Now, I am aware there are 11 different (known) genera within the family (cannabaceae), and was hoping to document as much as i can find. But what I’ve found, is that there are no observations for the family cannabaceae, now is that due to the guidelines of iNat, or perhaps nobody has thought to upload these?

There aren’t any rules about posting these types of species. Do you have a default Place filter set? There are over 9,000 needs ID and research grade observations uploaded in the genus Cannabis for example.

I am fairly new to iNat, and use the app instead of the web forum, so the settings are quite confusing. But, I do not believe my map settings are only set locally; as when I typed in “cannabaceae” or “cannabis” I got worldwide results. Although, the only observations to appear were hops, and nothing else of the same family.
