How/Where to report Red Lantern Invasive Species Sighting

Red lantern bugs have invaded a local tree. Sap is on the ground below the tree. There are probably several hundred of them in the tree currently. The tree is located on 20th St. in North Arlington, VA, between Wayne and Vance Street next to Park Towers.

We have gone through official channels (the county, the state) and were directed here.

How do we officially report this to have someone address it?

Thanks, and God Bless You!

This should give you the information you need.
There is a reporting tool and also a listing of places that no longer need to report.

spottedlanternfly@vdacs.virginia.gov.
This could help,too.

If you want to share you sightings to iNaturalist, head to iNaturalist.org to upload - or download the mobile app. You found the forum, which is a place to talk about iNaturalist itself.

The reason that you were directed here by local officials is probably because they aren’t going to do anything about it. As you can see from the map on iNaturalist, they are already extremely common in your area, and eradication is impossible at this time.

Officials should just check here themselves if they’d like to track sightings, I’m not reporting mine anywhere else.
