Description of problem:
Step 1: I open the app to make an observation.
Step 2: I am logged out, and it asks me to log in.
Step 3: I try to log in with Google and it doesn’t let me. Two hours later, I open the app, and it’s back to normal. I don’t have to log in and I’m back in my account.
It’s probably related, but I don’t see how. On both occasions, I was logged out for no reason. The first time, i logged back in and it created a new account for me for some reason. The second time, it just didn’t let me log back in. The root issue (in my technologically ignorant opinion!) is the involuntary logouts
There are some technical bot protection mechanims on iNaturalist. It could be (I’m a technical noob too), that the same IP adress is rejected because socket puppets are not allowd (your’s not created intentionally but by a technical issue).
Just guessing… perhaps wait for some staff response…
Something could have get wrong while merging your accounts?
I am logged in now, on both phone and laptop. What was weird was that I went to make an observation, and I was locked out. I tried to log in with google, and it didn’t let me. Then, two hours later, I opened the phone app and I was mysteriously already logged in. I have no idea what happened. But it’s annoying when you see a bird you want to observe, and the app glitches in that way. Maybe it’s my fault. But I never ran into this issue with the old app. Sorry for the hassle! And thanks for your attention!!
