I made it to 10,000 observations!

I made it to 10,000 observations!

Today is my 2 year iNat anniversary! ![]()
Happy anniversary! How will you celebrate?
Bird watching & brunch with friends
I have set two new goals for this year:
I’ve noticed a trend of you setting goals, and then flying by them, and having to invent new goals . . . this is a sign of mastery in any field!
It’s like, “I’ve already won the Olympic gold, so . . . can I do it for two Olympics in a row? Can I now win my event without giving up a single point?”
Or maybe of being chicken and setting my goals to low
..Maybe its a lifelesson learned, to keep goals realistic to keep them fun and motivating instead of demotivating.
I broke 18,000 IDs tonight!
If I can’t go out and play as much as I’d like, at least I can do something useful. ![]()
Becca’s post inspired me to do some ID’s!

Everyone, please keep sharing your milestones here. You never know what kind of positive effect you could have!
Thank you Lisa @lappelbaum for creating this thread!
My 2026 goals were to hit:
5k obs:
-currently: smashed! 6553
1.5k annotations:
-currently: 1074
100k IDs:
-currently: 75692 I’m a little concerned about how stretched this goal was… I think I’ll barely make it…

If you want to rack up easier numbers, you can tackle a taxon sweep. That is also useful. Went thru Welwitschia yesterday. Monotypic Order – Family – Genus. Lots of Cultivated in botanical gardens across the world (but not South America, why ?) and across the day only one optimistic passion fruit with delusions of Welwitschia ![]()

That was an ambitious passionfruit!
Thanks, now I am the top IDer for wild Ginkos worldwide ![]()
Bravo ! Will think of Texas when I admire the new leaves on our next visit to Kirstenbosch

Wouldn’t that be 250,000?
I haz a disappoint … I was aiming at 225K … and a quarter of a million sounds good.
Numbers are a language I don’t speak ![]()
