iNaturalist does not want me to observe too many things

Anyone is welcome to upload as many or as few observations of something as they like, there are no restrictions. If you don’t want to look at them, skip them, or modify the URL to exclude observations from that user.

this is not something that any user is required to do at all; uploading many observations is not equivalent to directly asking you to help with their observations

Please let me explain. Because I can work with various taxon groups, I usually just go by location and do not specify taxa. Now, say I’m going through pages of observations of a given location. Suddenly, I come upon a solid fifteen pages of nothing but one person’s mushrooms, or twenty pages of nothing but one person’s corals. Those are taxa I can’t help with. Since I could not predict ahead of time that those specific taxa would monopolize so many pages, I could not set my filters to exclude them. So now I have to spend minutes on end scrolling down and “mark all reviewed,” not knowing how soon I will again see a taxon that I can help with.

As I said before:

I’m not saying observe less, or upload less. I’m saying upload in smaller batches so that other people can have a turn, too. And I’m saying that the system to some extent enforcing that is not a bug, it’s a feature.

Since this seems to be going off topic and the original question has been answered, I’m going to close this thread.
