Is it acceptable to include a sports club logo in images?

I accidentally stumbled over observations of a user that routinely includes a sports club logo (Real Madrid, I believe) in most or even all his observations: [link removed by moderator]

Here is one of those images as an example:

Is this acceptable for iNaturalist? Apart from being unhelpful and a bit silly, this might maybe even raise legal issues? If it’s not acceptable, what is the right way for me to handle this?

welcome to the forum

this is fine, no action or intervention required

Thanks for the reply, good to know.

they’d be doing it either a) to provide a sense of scale (even though obviously if not using eg a ruler, it would be better to use something more standardised or recognisable to others), or perhaps b) because they’re uploading records as part of a school assignment or similar, and they’re required to have something unique/personal in the photo to prove they took the images (this is not uncommon for school students to try combat stealing images online)

and a much better way to say ‘I was here’ than student card or driver’s license – which we also see.

I recall seeing a slide show by a biology researcher many years ago in which the same beer can was featured in every photo of a whole series of photos in which he illustrated his study’s methodology. Rather funny as it served no purpose, such as providing a sense of scale.

This could be a good excuse if your partner is trying to convince you to do less of a bad habit (drinking beer in this case) . . . it’s for science!
