Is it me? Am I just not understanding how to record and upload audio through the app?

Platform: Inaturalist app

App version number, if a mobile app issue: 1.38.2

Browser, if a website issue:

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages:

Screenshots of what you are seeing:

Description of problem: I know there’s another report on here about audio recordings, but my issue doesn’t include the loading loop.

My issue is that I click the green button with a plus (to open the upload options), click record audio (not upload audio) and then click pause, click done. It immediately takes me to the regular edit page with the location info, options to add images, ect.

Then when I click the green check, to finish my edits, it just doesn’t have any media added, at all. Unless I also have included a photo. Then it’s just the photo being shown.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong, so I think it’s a bug?

Do you have audio permissions granted to the app? I have never tried to record sound this way before, but if I do this pops up for me.

Which device are you using?

I have the exact same issue with Android Galaxy S21. I think it might be because I’m on the beta of iNat classic though.

I can’t get it to work with the app on my Galaxy S22 either. I record something and when it uploads, it is blank with no media attached.

Right after this happens, please send us log files from the app. To send log files, go to the About tab in the iNaturalist app and tap three times on the version number. You will then have the option to email the log files to us.

There’s nothing called iNaturalist Classic for Android. Can you please share a screenshot of what you’re seeing? Here are instructions for how to take a screenshot on several types of devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org

Here’s the sound file/observation I tried to upload ~6:25 pm. I tried recording twice, there was no error message, just no file showed up:

I tried the bug/debug log and it said there were no files from today.
