In literature and later on in other medias, ants have been the embodiment of a society of work and discipline, used to portrait that together we can achieve more than a much bigger single organism. Story telling goes very far in our perception of the world, as some have said. They are the dolphins of the insects.
A lot of people around me hate wasps in general thinking only about yellow jacket wasps, when I tell them about the variety of wasps it helps to reduce the hatred. Of course, I don’t tell them straight away about the parasitic ones

I actually see the opposite around here. Ants are often unfairly viewed as nothing but pests, even by people who should understand their ecological importance. People who plant flowers to attract pollinators, but want to massacre a colony of ants just for living in a crack in their walkway.
Even when they get into food, I feel like that’s on the humans for failing to store their food in ant proof containers.
I’m glad not to have ants destroying my electronics, though, I can see how the ones that do that would not be popular!

It is you. Here in Mexico, ants become horrible pests and nobody likes them.
