I’m trying to encourage recording of wildlife in our churchyard. We can add observations to the Beautiful Burial Ground project, but that’s not of much local interest and we can’t easily see and list/report all the observations that have been made in the churchyard. If we could easily list and report any observations made in our churchyard, that would be a great incentive for local people to add their observations into your app. Is there a way of setting up a project which automatically captures all the observations made within the churchyard? (I’d happily draw the churchyard boundary onto your map somehow as part of setting up the project.) A bonus would then be if those observations could then be automatically added to the Beautiful Burial Grounds project?
Welcome to the forum!
Yes, you can set up a Collection project which will automatically capture observations made in your churchyard. Note that if the uncertainty in the location is too large, or if the taxon is obscured due to threats, those will not get collected. You can read more about projects here: https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000176472-understanding-projects-on-inaturalist
A collection project can’t be set up to also automatically put observation in a traditional project (Beautiful Burial Grounds), but the observations would be easy for someone to filter on and manually add, or someone could make an umbrella project that could group both your observations and the Beautiful Burial Grounds observations together.
