Missing infrageneric taxonomic ranks: supersection, series

Description of need: The drop-down menu of taxonomic ranks in the “create taxon” window should include the infrageneric rank “supersection”, between subgenus and section, and “series”, between subsection and complex. In my taxonomic field both are frequently used. Often an ID on species level is not possible, the neighboring ranks of “section” or “subgenus” are in use already.

Feature request details:
In detail, describe the feature you are requesting. This includes its functionality, where the feature is implemented, and what it might look like. Screenshots or mock-ups are helpful. The idea is to have a concrete and actionable request which the community can discuss and vote on. It might change through discussion, but it’s much easier to iterate and talk about something specific.

Series is already a long-standing request: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/implement-the-botanical-rank-series-between-subsection-and-complex/17735.

@martinwettges May I ask: What is your taxonomic field of interest? In the realms that I frequent (birds, Lepidoptera, higher plants), I rarely see those taxonomic levels.

IIRC, Semple’s classification of Solidago makes use of series. I do agree it’s a comparatively rare rank.

I have had Martin ID many of my Passiflora observations, which seems to be a deeply convoluted genus with numerous subgenera and sections.
