Earlier I was in the process of adding missing talussnail species Sonorella rooseveltiana and Sonorella fragilis. A helpful curator responded to my flag (which I had mistakenly made using the species photo, not the actual taxon. Noob mistake on my part) within a minute or two. However rather than fulfilling my request, a taxon swap was committed against molluscanbase.org The taxon “Myotophallus” is not used, and has since been discussed, revised by Roth and renamed, and ultimately tossed due to numerous problems. I am not trying to fix the taxonomic issues right now. However, I am trying to ensure that species is identified using the geographically accepted genus and species so it is unambiguous and useful for both naturalists and wildlife agencies in the Southwestern US where the species occurs. PLEASE backout the taxon swap and implement the name(s) Sonorella rooseveltiana rooseveltiana, and Sonorella rooseveltiana fragilis.
I hate to say this, but I’m going to any way. I am one of a handful of experts on desertsnails Helminthoglyptini) with research and field experience. I’d appreciate support in this matter.
