since those 4 letter codes are typically for America continent, why not make them invalid for Europe? Would that not solve the problem?

I’m not sure exactly what you mean, but I don’t think that there’s a way to accomplish this.

I had a similar experience recently. I was uploading some old photographs from a trip to Chile 15 years ago. Many of them were classified correctly, but amongst them I had several insects and birds that were identified as Capsacum annuum. It took a post to the forum to realise that the tag Chile is also a form used for chilli.

Unfortunately, I think you can only prioritize organism names for places, not disable names for places.
