I wanted to start a topic where people can share nature-inspired comic strips. By “nature-inspired” I mean a comic that relies on one’s knowledge about nature for its humor. Comics about pets, as wonderful as they are, do not count.

Also:

- Nothing too blue or lewd that would go against the forum’s guidelines.

- No poo-pooing someone’s comic just because you don’t think it’s funny.

- If possible, provide a link to the comic’s original location on the web.

**Bonus** : Can you ID the species involved and link them back to iNat?

OK, here’s mine, which I love because Spider-Man is my favorite superhero _and_ I love my [_Pepsis_ wasps](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/54027-Pepsis). Unfortunately I don’t know where this comic originated.

I don’t expect any points for this shameless act: [Araneae](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/47118-Araneae) X [homo sapiens](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/43584-Homo-sapiens)? Pardon incorrect notation. This is fantastic and so far this Nature Talk thing is awesome, thanks for taking a chance on it.

@tiwane what does blue mean in this context, dark/sad or something else? I’m a little dense sometimes.

_Calvin and Hobbes_ has some great nature-based strips.
I’m not sure how to interpret “relies on one’s knowledge about nature for its humor”, so I might be pushing the rules a bit here since the comics explain everything.

I think these are all from cartoons printed in the [The New Yorker.](https://www.newyorker.com/cartoons) They were on the refrigerator of unknown desk calendar origin. In my view the cartoons from the New Yorker using animals to poke fun at human behavior are the best part of that publication : I have one more that’s marginally more riske, so I’m going to get permission first.

Also, I’m not sure if this counts as relying upon nature knowledge as much as human nature, but if challenged I can make a hearty case for overthinking the nuances in the bird behavior and such!

Ah I missed that request!
The ‘not in a “V”’ in the XKCD strip refers to the silhouette of [Turkey Vultures](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/4756-Cathartes-aura) when flying.
