That’s so true to me. I belonged to an on-line photo group where you could post photos you had taken and be critiqued by fellow members. I posted what I thought was a beautiful photo I had taken of a male Northern Cardinal, and apologized I had posted such a common bird, but I was interested in having my technique critiqued. I can’t tell you how many folks from the west coast and indeed, from around the world who commented it wasn’t a common bird to them, and they were thrilled I had posted the photo! What is common to some is not so common to others!
Yeah, definitely! For example, a California Scrub-Jay once flew up here to British Columbia, where I live, and hundreds of bird enthusiasts showed up to photograph it. But in California, hardly anyone would give it a second glance.
