Nature-inspired memes

Huh. I would have bet money that the right lower quadrant one was a Carex sedge, not a grass

I would have put 3 of them as sedges - Eragrostis, Carex subg. Vignea. and Carex subg. Carex.

What I would like to see would be the aerial troop ship arrival scenes.

A little crude butt effective taxonomic mnemonic.

I always thought grasses had joints so we passed them around!

Fixed the meme, thank you.

ultrakill intensifies

For real though, do we have any fps gamers/ gamers in general here in the forum?

When variation strikes - different colours but just isn’t a lifer.

I have a gaming pc I built with a friend. I also painted the case. Also xbox 360 and xbox one, although I never use them anymore.

That was a new piece of knowledge for me. Though it feels like half a poem that needs finishing.

Nobody did damned yellow composite?
Also yet another warbler

(I’ve posted 33 times in this thread)

More of a pun than a meme but so nerdy and specific that it needed posting here

Hmmm… Shouldn’t it be a cursed fungus?

Another PBF classic.

Today’s SMBC goes right for the taxonomic life goal… um, shortcut.

I found this comic confusing on 2 levels, so for anyone like me:

  • What is happening in panel 2 is that the bat is using echolocation to find the position of the rat’s peg on the board. It’s obvious in hindsight, but I didn’t get that from the image.
  • PBF stands for The Perry Bible Fellowship, which is a comic strip drawn by Nicholas Gurewitch
  • Original here

yep, that’s unfortunately an error, but fortunately correcting it doesn’t disturb the pun

On the other hand, sometimes the nymph is a lifer, like the brown marmorated stinkbug I found in Monaco that sat as “Pentatomomorpha indet.” for a couple months after I observed it!
