Great photo!
Here’s a special one - I tried to get good photos of dragonflies in flight (I failed…) but I kept some photos because I considered the species at least to be identifiable.
Only at home I noticed that my camera perfectly captured a Grass Snake in this photo series (the blurry Southern Hawker is visible as well in the upper right
)
I was on a flight over Lake Eyre/Kati Thanda in South Australia in July 2025 when the pilot spotted a group of Australian pelicans just below us, I had my camera with the zoom out and was trying to point in a weird angle downward to catch the squadron before they were gone.
While uploading this observation to iNaturalist, I found out I had caught a pair of black swans as well!
I found a cool bug while i was on a walk an took some photos of it. When I was editing the photos I found an springtail on top of it which is now a separate observation
Wow, this is the picture that just keeps giving. It appears that you also have some kind of snail shell to the right of the snake, partially obscured by that stick
Happens all the time with sneaky flower spiders that don’t move while I’m stuck with tunnel vision trying to get a shot of something else.
Just recently I was so concentrated on trying to befriend an adorable moth critter that I only found out at home that there was a chunky crabby baby right in front of my face all along. My camera even got a relatively clear shot of him in one of the photos, lol.
I was taking photos of these Asclepias syriaca (Common Milkweed) pods
when I noticed something..
tucked inside one of the empty pods was a lone Oncopeltus fasciatus (Large Milkweed Bug)
