Do you ever see an image of a specimen or illustration of a species and think, “hey I remember seeing this on iNat!”
And when you go to iNat to find that observation, it is missing.
It happened with a species of the genus Gargara from Borneo. that species looked familiar. I remembered it. But I tried finding that observation atleast 3 times but it was missing.
Do you have any such incidents?
They usually deleted it, or maybe you tried searching in a certain area, but that observation range is out of the range of your chosen area.
Check the filters and you will see [Verifiable] on. this means that “casual” species are not shown.
Any chance it wasn’t ID’ed to the genus level on iNat yet, you just recognized it as such from the picture?
I checked at family level. Any observation of that family from Borneo.
