The one you posted is good, but I like the flight photo better, actually.
Ditto, in many ways - it just felt more sensible to put the clearer photo in the observation, since this time I actually got one!
Eurasian jay?
No, its a Laughing Kookaburra, @grampianshiker has shared the observation link.
Good guess!
In cases like this, I usually add the blurry photo to my observation (with the best photo as the first one) because the in-motion photos often show something about the feathers which are only visible in flight.
Like this Pileated woodpecker:
My first thought was that the spider was huge and had jumped onto your face, but then I realized you had just scribbled your face out for privacy ![]()
Haha same!
Hi, I’m Mr. Peatmoss!
The branch cross section I was trying to get a picture of just happened to land on a torn leaf. FYI, the leaves in this species (Sphagnum affine) are about 1.5 mm long. If I ever decide to change my profile picture this guy is high on my list.
Once I searched him up, I saw him too!
Anyone want to take a guess at what this is?
(I don’t know myself) It flew away from me and onto someone’s lawn before I could react

Some kind of hawkmoth, maybe? I was thinking Band-winged Grasshoppers (they’re all over the place here), but then I saw the antennae in the photo.
Hmm, maybe! I didn’t get a good look at it before it flew away! ![]()
