Photography outtakes - humor

The one you posted is good, but I like the flight photo better, actually.

Ditto, in many ways - it just felt more sensible to put the clearer photo in the observation, since this time I actually got one!

In cases like this, I usually add the blurry photo to my observation (with the best photo as the first one) because the in-motion photos often show something about the feathers which are only visible in flight.

My first thought was that the spider was huge and had jumped onto your face, but then I realized you had just scribbled your face out for privacy

Hi, I’m Mr. Peatmoss!

The branch cross section I was trying to get a picture of just happened to land on a torn leaf. FYI, the leaves in this species (Sphagnum affine) are about 1.5 mm long. If I ever decide to change my profile picture this guy is high on my list.

Anyone want to take a guess at what this is?
(I don’t know myself) It flew away from me and onto someone’s lawn before I could react  My guess was "winged and once-winged insects

Some kind of hawkmoth, maybe? I was thinking Band-winged Grasshoppers (they’re all over the place here), but then I saw the antennae in the photo.

Hmm, maybe! I didn’t get a good look at it before it flew away!
