Pull to refresh doesn't have enough room on small devices in landscape

I can use pull to refresh on my Android phone in portrait orientation, but there isn’t enough room to pull down in landscape – it never changes to “Release to refresh”.

I was previously asked to give a version number – it’s 1.15.2 (387) – but this problem is not version dependent. It’s been happening as long as I can remember and isn’t an issue on larger Android tablets running the same version.

it might be helpful to say specifically what kind of Android phone you have. i have a Pixel 3a, which is relatively narrow, and i sort of see what you’re seeing, but if i start pulling from just below the My Content / Following / News bar and pull all the way down to the edge of the screen, i can get the “Pull to refresh…” to change to “Release to refresh…”
