this ragworm was a gorgeous shade of purple and blue-green!
here is a purple tip butterfly i saw in kenya this summer. i only got just the tiniest sliver of its incredible purple wings in the second picture. it was so vibrant
It’s delightful until it gets in your garden! It’s very invasive and extremely hard to eradicate. Last spring I paid someone to dig up an entire fenced-in so-called garden that had turned into a depressing tangle of porcelain berry, despite many years’ effort trying to keep it in check. You can’t turn your back on that stuff for a minute. Now when I look out the window I frequently sigh audibly and say out loud, “What a relief that’s gone!”
It is pretty, though…
1- a mushroom which idk the name of :’)
2- not exactly purple but it has the iridescence, does that count?

surprisingly out of 1500 bugs only 3 were this purple

That looks surprisingly similar to our Gray headed swamphens

A bit of a note for this observation: I’ve not explored too many water birds and the swamphens I saw today were a lifer for me. At first, I only saw one, silently rummaging through the water hyacinth, and I nearly freaked out on the spot since it was fairly close to where I was standing and I absolutely loved it colors. But then I saw one more, and then two more. It did get a bit tiring at the end, since I ended up with ~13 swamphens!
