Wouldn’t it be simple to make a menu option available that just forces clearing of the cache?

The reason we ask you to do this is that there are certain tasks, like file cleanup, that only happen when the app is started, not when it is re-activated after being in the background.

You should restart the app, egg. rebooting your phone should clean your Android with a rather recent version of the app.
