Description:

It’s often hard to find projects that are both local and current. While the mobile app does have a “nearby projects” tool, it often turns up years-old or limited projects.

So I made a lightweight tool to make it easier to find upcoming local projects!

Limitations:

  • It does work best if you search by a broader location like county/district; searching by a smaller location like city or park may not return expected results (due to the APIs I ended up relying on to get it working).
  • It may still turn up current but “limited” events (like a project for a local university course). I am not aware of an API param that is consistently-enough set to filter these out automatically, but there didn’t seem to be a super-high volume of these.

Whoa, thanks! Helped me find some good bioblitzes in my area! I’ll try to recommend this to my iNat friends, thanks!

This is a great tool. How do I get my BioBlitz listed on this?

Thank you for pointing that out! Looks like that project had the date stored in a format that I wasn’t handling yet.

I have updated the tool, and now I do see your BioBlitz if I search for San Diego County. Does it work for you now too?

Too cool!

I am so happy. At least if someone is looking they will see our BioBlitz event.

For some reason it lists it as Nov. 14 and then says the 15th in the description.

The event is the 15th.

Thank you!

Excellent catch, thank you so much! Looks like I had an issue with timezones.

Should be fixed now, and your event does now show as Nov. 15 for me!
