Description of problem:

Step 1: open one of taxon pages that supposed to show “total species observed” stats,

e.g. https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/4638-Falco (doesn’t matter if you logged in or not)

Step 2: select any meaningful location, e.g. “Belgium country”

Observed: “total species observed” shows “0 of 38”, and the “view all” button has place_id=any in the url parameters so it won’t provide correct detailed info. The other stats looks good and the links have correct place_id. I also tried to refresh the browser cache and it can change the text to “38 of 38” which is still incorrect.

Tested with different taxons and places - same result.

Expected: “total species observed” shows “7 of 38”. The “view all” button leads to correct detailed stats.

I’m having a similar issue, but the “Total Species Observed” tab just isn’t showing up at all. I don’t have any place filter on. I noticed this while on the myriapod taxa pages, and its not an issue for other taxa. I’m confused as to why this is.

I believe there are 2 different types of screens here: one with “total species observed” (which my bug is about) and the second type is with the last submitted observation which is shown when the species stats somehow not available/applicable.

But in any case, the stats are still available by a direct link, here an example for your taxon (taxon_id=185577)
