Try to keep related recomendation image trackable/reachable while trying to Identify an specimen

Description of problem:

Step 1:

While trying to add an identification to the observation, I notice that Inaturalist suggest me “Hemileucini” and uses an image for such tribe that looks fairly similar to the image in the observation (screenshot1).

Step 2:

Since I want to investigate further about this fairly similar specimen I would like to be able to see this related observation. But once I select “Hemileucini” (screenshot2 ) I still can’t get to such observation.

Step 3:

Say I add such id to see if I am finaly able to see details of the image , the image being shown is no longer the one that seemed interesting but the one that is default for “Hemileucini” so any clue at this point is lost… (screenshot3)

I have found this quite annoying, and it happens somewhat frequently, sometimes when you choose “Show suggestions not expected nearby” the genus of the image could show up, but that is not consistent and just happens from time to time.

the images can come from any of the subtaxa. unfortunately, that can make it hard to find sometimes. i don’t think there’s a bug here, but it could be worth writing up a feature request to maybe add a button that goes to the specific image rather than just the taxon page.

Yes - I would also like a way to get to the obs ‘with the image iNat offered’

sometimes may not be possible to go to a specific observation because photos are not always tied to observations. so going to the image is probably going to be the best bet, and then you can get to linked observations from there, if there are linked observations.

Yeah I wasn’t shure if that was a bug or not. But regardless if I want to track the image, it feels weird to be changing images depending on the stage of the steps I showed up here.

Gonna make the feature request, seems pretty useful for users.
