Unable to add project to observations

I joined the Biodiversity in Urban Gardens: California but I have not been able to add this project to to my existing observations. I would appreciate help.

That looks like an umbrella project that automatically pools observations from other projects. You can’t manually add observations to it. I think if you join one of the sub projects it pools from, you can add observations there. Maybe try joining: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/biodiversity-in-urban-gardens-california-home-neighborhood-gardens

There are two projects for California Native Plant Society’s BUG program. Biodiversity in Urban Gardens: California is an umbrella project for public gardens who sign up to be part of the project. Biodiversity in Urban Gardens: California Home & Neighborhood Gardens is for people who want to manually add observations for their private garden or gardens that aren’t part of Biodiversity in Urban Gardens: California.

Thanks, joining the sub-project “Home & Neighborhood Gardens” worked, but it is not at all obvious that you have to join the subgroup after joining the umbrella project.

You’re right, it’s not obvious, but just a function of how the different project types work. If you don’t want to belong to both projects, you could leave the umbrella project. It will automatically collect your observations from the other project regardless of whether you’ve joined the umbrella project or not.

I think the onus is on the project owner(s) to make that clear in their outreach and/or project description.

The project organizers did mention difference between the two projects on their website and June 11th webinar.

I watched the webinar and read the website. It’s a really cool project about native plants and the wildlife they attract. Anyone in California who likes native plants and wildlife should consider joining the project.
