Unable to flag unstarted bioblitz project as spam

Maybe I am missing it, but can you flag an unstarted bioblitz project as spam?

Please note there may be a 2nd issue here with this project that somehow an iNat curator is listed as a co-admin on the project along with the spammer account. I doubt they willingly added their name to be associated with the project, so how did that happen ?

I just went through part of the process for creating a project, and yes, I can add co-curators to the project, seemingly anyone.

I guess it makes sense someone else should add you, after all we dont want people adding themselves to gain access to obscured locations etc, but surely there should be some kind of confirm or accept message sent to the person ?

By flagging as spam, that curator now has a spam ‘strike’ against their account.

Definitely should have a link to flag the project, but a workaround is to grab the project ID in the json and go to https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/51902/flags then flag from there.

Just found another one with the same issue, a prominent curator added as co-admin, who now gets a spam strike on their account I assume.

Or does the spam strike only go to the creator ?

How does that work? I don’t see how to do it.

Type .json at the end of the project URL. Then look for the project_id. Plug that project ID into https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/PROJECTD/flags

Made a bug report for this: https://github.com/inaturalist/inaturalist/issues/2673

the json thing certainly doesn’t work in Safari.

Strange! Can you send a screenshot of what this page looks like in Safari?

Probably requires a plug-in to parse the JSON and make it readable.

yeah @ellen5 the project ID is just that first number, so it’s at least pretty easy to find in the json. not the most intuitive workaround though

It bothers me A LOT that there’s all that nonsense in there about TV channels, watching tennis and whatnot. I think I’m glad I can’t follow that link

Yep, that’s what the json page looks like to me as well.

Thankfully it’s already been flagged as spam.

Looks like this was recently fixed: https://github.com/inaturalist/inaturalist/issues/2673

I now view the link to flag a collection project that has a start date in the future.
