Not sure if this is a general bug worth reporting, or if it’s me doing something wrong, but I’ve noticed that when searching for Unknowns to ID, some of the observations displayed (all in the Kingdom Bacteria I believe) actually already have an ID. It’s not a big deal of course, just a bit annoying. Has anyone else noticed this?

From another thread:

> [@Identified Cyanobacteria etc showing up in the explore page when filtering by "Unknown species"](https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/identified-cyanobacteria-etc-showing-up-in-the-explore-page-when-filtering-by-unknown-species/27263/2):

> Bacteria are shown as unknown as they’re not iconic taxa on iNat. It’s not a bug.

OK understood. If I wanted to filter them out, is there a way to do this?

Just commenting to stay in the loop. But I’ve always wanted to filter certain species out when IDing, but I don’t think it’s possible.

You can add the &without\_taxon\_id=XXXXXX to the URL to filter out a certain taxon.

Perfect, thanks. I’ll give it a try.

Here is an exclusion chunk that I currently use in my Unknowns only/ no Life url:
&without\_taxon\_id=48460%2C1126112%2C67333%2C131236%2C151817%2C48222

the 48460 number excludes all Life, and makes the later numbers redundant, but I keep those in so that I can adjust the focus with an easy edit. I forget what the other couple numbers do.

Edit: 1126112 was from some unrelated past issue and can be removed so
&without\_taxon\_id=48460%2C67333%2C131236%2C151817%2C48222
