What are some blue organisms you have photographed?

Out in the field this afternoon I found a stunning blue and yellow beetle. I’d never seen it before, apparently it’s an Elderberry Beetle!

Well, as I am just starting to get into macro photography, I headed afield this weekend hoping to find and photograph some blue butterflies … but I failed to find any. What’s up with that???

But I did find some wild Blueberry bushes growing in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, and was struck by how beautiful the bunches of berries are, so I spent some time photographing them with my macro lens.

Photo(S) taken by me at Barefoot Beach Preserve Collier County Florida. The water is what is really amazingly blue but people forget pelicans have dark blue bills particularly noticeable in younger birds.

A Blue Death Feigning Beetle. Asbolus verrucosus They live in a tank at my house. This one is alive. Luckily, it pretended to be dead, so it held still through a focus stack. Except for its antennae. Those flipped around a lot, which I had to deal with in post.

I just asked a few to pose for a photo. They are about 2 cm.

Butterfly flutterer dragonfly. They seem to be a very dark, midnight blue or black, but because of the structure of their wing cells, as the angle of light changes, they become an iridescent rainbow.
