What are your notification settings?

Sometimes I really wonder what do you think are ideal notification settings on iNat; Can I know?

I’ll be interested to see what other people suggest, but given the extremely primitive iNat notifications function, I’ve long since stopped using it. I now use a combination of the excellent notifications browser by @pisum (see this forum post) accessible by simply loading this url and providing the necessary authorisation, and the new iNatifier tool by @cesar_stastny discussed in this post, available on request directly from the author as it is still in beta. I find the two tools are complementary and used together make the perfect combination. The notifications browser provides a quick and very detailed overview of all notifications, while iNatifier provides real-time notifications with a highly versatile range of settings… I’ve found the possibility of only seeing disagreements particularly useful, together with the immediacy. I should add that I only use the iNat website. I’m not sure if the notifications browser also works on smartphones, but I’ve tested iNatifier on my Android smartphone and it works perfectly.

Minimal. I turn off almost all notifications.

I don’t like apps and websites sending me stuff, so I only want info from them when I visit them.

I read all my notifications and UN follow / subscribe ASAP.

Wow. amazing tool.

Emails are turned off, I don’t need more emails that I won’t read…

On the site I have notifications set to notify me if I’m mentioned or if someone disagrees with me. It took me far too long to realise I can turn off ‘confirming ids’ notifications which cleared away a lot of clutter.

I’m going to check out the links from @lynkos above today.
